Great Friends

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Many of you may not know that I am friends with an amazing group of women.  These ladies  are the most thoughtful, supportive, smart, generous and kind individuals I have run across in a very long time.  I feel truly blessed to have each one in my life.  We communicate via email but originally met on a message board.  We’ve known each other since we were all trying to get pregnant almost 3 years ago.   We are so close that you’d never guess many of us have never even met each other!   We are spread across the country, even all the way up to Canada.

When I shared the news of Nicholas’ pending surgery with them, of course they responded with a ton of support and encouraging words.  Then just the other day, Nicholas received a package.  My great friends sent him an adorable doctor bear to give him comfort during his surgery and recovery!  He snuggles with it now and it will definitely come with us to the surgery center.  I bet I’ll even be hugging it in the waiting room!

He is just so cute!  He has on scrubs complete with a mask, booties and a hat.  Thank you so much, girls.   You know who you are!  ;)    Love ya’ll!

Father’s Day 2009

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

We had a quiet, low-key Father’s day this year.  We celebrated with Matthew’s family a couple weeks ago when they visited to help us seed the backyard.  They are out west visiting Lolo and Lola now.  This weekend, my parents and brother came to visit.  I think (hope!) that Dad and Matthew had a good day.  I made a yummy dinner last night for my dad- grilled steaks with veggies.  Mom also made a fabulous cheesecake for dessert.  Then I made a big breakfast this morning for everyone.  Can you tell we like food in this family? ;)

We opened gifts with my parents and brother before they had to leave.  It is so much fun when they visit and sad when they leave.  But we had a good time!  Papa got  the horseshoe set he wanted and Matthew got a new mug with Nicholas’ picture for his desk.  Also, Ms. Irene helped Nicholas make a stepping stone with his hand and footprints for his daddy.  I say it a lot, but it is worth saying again- she is awesome and we love her!

yay, a lowe's card!     let me help ya, dad!    gift2   see what we picked out for you, Papa    look what I made for you, Daddy!

After nap, Matthew and I took Nicholas out for ice cream.  We went last year too so maybe it is becoming a tradition.  Anyways, it totally upset my stomach!  And I think Nicholas’ too because he was a complete mess all evening and only wanted me to hold him. Way to treat daddy on Father’s day! :(  So in the end, Matthew ended up making his own Father’s Day dinner.  He didn’t mind though because he had requested grilled pizza and he likes to grill.  It turned out really well!

Happy Father’s Day, Everyone!

Water Fun!

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Nana, Papa and Uncle Matt came down for Father’s Day. The weather is ridiculously hot so we decided to let Nicholas have some water fun. He looked down right adorable in his hat, trunks and knock-off crocs. He loved splashing in the water table, pouring water out onto his belly and feet. As well as our feet! He didn’t seem to notice the sprinkler, probably because he was busy with his water table. Enjoy the pics and video!

By the way, I do not condone the treatment of the penguin in the video.

Nicholas LOVES computers. Wonder who he got that from?   He will sit on your lap for as long as you will let him while you are sitting at a computer.  He just loves it.  So today we got him his very own!  It is awesome and Bubba really likes it!  He will sit on the couch with it for a good long time while I get some things done.  It’s great!

Pullen Park Playgroup

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

We met our AquaMommy and baby playgroup at an awesome park last week.  Pullen Park is right in Raleigh and is so neat!  It has a miniature train to ride around, an old-fashioned carousel and lots of playgrounds for all ages.  All in the shade no less!  Nicholas had a grand time!  We will definitely be returning with his daddy soon. And will definitely be riding that train again with Papa!

He squeezed under the gate and continued up the stairs to chase after Zoë!   What the heck, man?  I love his face of “what Mom?”.  Silly boy!

The Holy Trinity

A truck, music AND ice cream!! Three of Nicholas’ favorite things all rolled up into one glorious creature- the ice cream truck. As were finishing dinner, the truck was making the rounds on our street. Nicholas got so excited so we just had to go out! We threw on our shoes, got some cash from Daddy and dashed down the street. Luckily there was a long line so we caught him with time to spare. We got our two chipwiches and walked back home. I let Nicholas carry one and he was soooo excited and so proud to show his daddy his new treat! He ran while holding it out with a big grin on his face.

Look what I got, Dad!    yay for ice cream!

Despite it being bath and bedtime, we couldn’t very well deny Nicholas his ice cream.  So he had some chipwich and loved it! But really, who doesn’t love a chipwich.

No, he’s not always in the highchair

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

I realized that Nicholas is in his highchair for the majority of pictures and videos that I post.  It is just that he does all of his best work in the highchair!  Truth be told, we do let him down now and then.  And of course take more pictures to document his freedom.  :)

concentrating on a puzzle    He puts a lot of thought into his puzzles.

bar stool or jungle gym? you decide.     He was sliding under the bar stools and then trying to climb up them.  We went to the playground later beacuse he obviously needed to climb!

Helping mommy unpack a new box of diapers.    Oh, you mean you didn’t want these spread out all over the floor, Mommy?  My bad.

I <3 Zoë.    He loves his Zoë.  She ran away mid-pet but he was focused on something else at the time and just kept petting the pillow for a few more seconds.  She got him!

he's gonna break a lot of hearts one day...    How could you not love that face?!?!
