Peas, sitting up, the pool, Papa and sparklers

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Nicholas has had a busy couple of days! He had peas for the first time and seemed to enjoy them.  But we think they caused him to have terrible diaper rash so we’ll wait awhile before trying those again.  We may move onto sweet potatoes and a fruit next.

I like peas! But they don’t like me…

The little man can sit!  Well, sort of.  He *can* do it and has done it, but not for too long. We’re talking maybe a minute before slumping over to the side, but ya gotta start somewhere, right?  :) I was talking with a friend at playgroup about how he can’t sit up yet when I plopped him down to show her how he just slumps over, when he didn’t slump! He actually sat there!  Thankfully he did it at home for everyone to see too.

Look at me sitting up like a big boy!    It looks like I am leaning on Nana, but I’m not!

He also went to the pool for the first time today. He didn’t hate it, but I think it was just a lot to take in so he didn’t show much enthusiasm.  We got a few smiles, but not too many. Maybe next time… he sure did look cute in his swim trunks though!

Nicholas also loves to grab at your face and ‘eat’ you.  He seems partial to noses and bottom lips.  Here he is knawing on his Papa’s nose. Yum.

I’m going to take your nose now, Papa. K?    mm mm good!

And since it is July 4th, of course we had to do sparklers! These definitely fell into the category of ‘something that I was way more excited about doing than he was’ along with bubbles and balloons.  I am sure that next year he’ll get more excited. We are skipping going to any firework displays as it is way past his bedtime and we think the bangs would scare him.  I just hope the celebrations around the neighborhood don’t wake him tonight.

Pretty sparkles!

Happy 4th of July!
