Happy 3 Months, Nicholas!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I cannot believe that 3 months ago today, Nicholas was born. The time has been fabulous, difficult and so much fun all at the same time! You get nine months to think about how your life will change once the baby arrives, but you really have no clue! The love that I feel for Nicholas is so much bigger than I could have imagined. Overall he is such a happy, loving baby and Matthew and I feel so blessed to have him in our life.

He laughs, smiles and talks to us all the time now. He is able to reach out, grasp and hold toys all by himself. And just last week he rolled over from his back to his belly. I think he actually knew what he did too, because he did it several more times that night and twice the next day. We go back to the pediatrician at the end of April for his 4-month well baby check up so we’ll get his exact height and weight then. But just weighing him on our scale here, he is about 15 lbs! He is in pretty much all 6 month clothes with some 3-6 month onesies thrown in. Here are the most recent pictures from this past couple of weeks. The first 4 are from our photo shoot for his 3 month portraits and the others are from this weekend’s visit to VA.

Nicholas’ 1st holiday

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Well, besides Valentine’s day but this was the first one we celebrated with family. Oh, he was here for New Year’s but you can only do so much celebrating in the hospital 1 day postpartum.  Anyhoo, Nicholas had a great weekend with his grandparents, Oma, Uncle Matt and Aunt Jenn. We went to church Sunday morning and he did pretty well. Then we all came back for a yummy traditional ham dinner.

Here are some pictures from Easter morning. He reached out and grabbed his rattle that we got him. That was the first time that he had really done that and kept a hold of it. The Easter bunny (and his grandparents!) spoiled him with books, CD’s and plenty of toys. :)

He laughed!

Nicholas can now laugh! He did it for the first time yesterday and has done it a couple times since. It is the sweetest sound I have ever heard (besides his first cry at birth of course). We just went upstairs and I turned on our ceiling fan and all of a sudden he burst into laughter with a huge smile on his face. Who knew ceiling fans were so funny? Luckily, Matthew was working from home so he was able to hear it too. We just love watching our little man explore and experience the world! :)

Here are a few of the latest pictures. We took him to see the Easter bunny last weekend. We’ll have to scan and get those pictures up soon. Enjoy!
