The many faces of Nicholas

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Nicholas is growing and changing so much these days. He will be a month old tomorrow and its so hard to believe its been that long already. He is a big boy and is already in size 3 month sleepers. He is too long for newborn sized ones already. I thought I had seen a couple smiles the past several days, but I was never around the camera. Well today he was all smiles with his Nana and I was able to catch it! Here are some pictures of his many moods.

I love to smile, smiling is my favorite.     yawning baby     I am not happy mom.     Checking out the ceiling fan

He’s 2 weeks old already!

My how time flies when you don’t sleep! :) Nicholas is 2 weeks old today and doing well. He went to the pediatrician today and got a good report. He now weighs 9lb 5oz and is 22.5 inches long! Just last Saturday he was 8lb 5oz. He is in the 75th percentile for his weight and head circumference and 95th percentile for his length. He is eating well (obviously!) and gets cuter everyday.

We’ve received so many gifts, sweet cards and well wishes from everyone that we appreciate so much! Its so nice to know that everyone is thinking of us. Thank you all!

Here are a couple pictures.

More pictures, seriously?! I found my thumb! hi-dad2.jpg

We are home!

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

We arrived home from the hospital Thursday afternoon. I still can’t believe they just let you leave with the baby like they think you know what you are doing! :) But so far so good. Nicholas is eating like a champ- and often. He had lost 10% of his birth weight during our hospital stay, which is the high end of “normal”. So we followed up with the pediatrician this morning and he now weighs 8lb 5oz! He gained 11oz since Wednesday night!! What a chunky monkey! He checked out well with everything else too. I am recovering well. It’s been painful, but is getting better. Its amazing how your concern changes so fast. It doesn’t matter if I am in pain, becuase my priority is Nicholas now.

So we are just enjoying our little guy, adjusting to life with a lot less sleep and a newborn. But he is just perfect and its all worth it. Here are few pictures of our homecoming and at home. Zoë is still not too sure about him, but we think she’ll adjust eventually. At least we hope so…
