The nursery is DONE!

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

We are really happy with how it all turned out. Matthew did such a great job painting, putting furniture together and hanging everything. Here is a walking tour in pictures of our little man’s room. The first is as you walk in the room. On the left are pictures of family (for good feng shui), then a matted picture with messages from everyone at my baby shower. That is the picture that came with it, not Nicholas yet obviously! We’ll put one of our maternity portraits in that frame. Then the glider corner, complete with Zoë. Followed by the crib and book shelf. And lastly the changing table/dresser.

Here’s the latest and greatest… and I can’t believe I am including this one but we just thought it was funny how lopsided my belly was tonight! :)

By the end of this week, I am considered full term! That means I can come anytime now, but I will still probably make mom and dad wait a few more weeks.  I am about 6 pounds and gaining an ounce a day.  I measure around 19 inches long.  I am still practicing breathing so I get the hiccups often and am still trying to move around even though its pretty cramped in here. Only 4 more weeks till my debut!

Well, I am getting more and more squished in mommy’s belly these days. I weigh over 5 pounds and measure over 18 inches long. My kidneys are fully developed and my liver is able to function. My arms and legs will plump out this week as I continue to gain weight. Only 5 more weeks till my debut!

He has furniture!

The furniture that we ordered for the nursery was finally delivered today. We are really pleased with it. All that is left to do is to figure out what to put in the drawers and to hang the wall decorations. And get a lamp for by the glider. Oh, and that beautiful dust ruffle is another one of my creations. :)   Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

34 weeks old and Mommy update

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

I am almost 5 pounds and about 18 inches long now.  My skin is smoother than ever as I am building up fat layers under my skin.  This will help me stay warm after I am born.  My nervous system is finishing up and my lungs will continue to mature until I am born.  6 more weeks till d-day!

In Mommy news, she went to the doctor yesterday.  We both checked out fine.  I wiggled around a bit to give the doctor a challenge to find my heartbeat! He thought it was funny though.  I haven’t flipped head down yet but we all know that I am bound to be stubborn like mommy so I’ll do it in my own time.   Mommy goes back next week and then every week after that until I am born.

Just a general update on stuff

Is it really November already?! Wow, time is flying by and Christmas will be here before we know it! We are almost done with getting the nursery and other baby things together.  We ordered the nursery furniture last week and should get it in a week or so.  I’ve decided to take up sewing and my first project is to make the valances for Nicholas’ room.  So far I’ve stuck myself about a dozen times with push pins and bent one sewing machine needle! The valances aren’t perfect by any means, but are definitely made with love. :) I’ll have them done in time to include in new pictures once we get the furniture in.

In other news, we graduated from our childbirth classes at the hospital this week.  I guess that means we are supposed to be ready for labor and delivery!  Yikes! It was a really good series and our instructor was great.  I go to the doctor on Monday for a 34 week check up, then a 37 week check up and then I go every week until d-day.  I’m feeling okay besides the aches and pains that are to be expected with smuggling a watermelon under your shirt.  I can’t wait for Matthew to be able to carry Nicholas around for awhile!  I can tell he still has room to flip around in there because his hiccups move around all the time! Sometimes I feel them up high and to the right and other times they are lower and off to the side.  Poor kid, he gets them at least once a day.

Stay tuned for new nursery pictures soon!

33 weeks old!

I am a little over 4 pounds and a bit past 17 inches long.  I am quickly loosing my wrinkled appearance as I am getting fatter and fatter!  My living space is getting smaller with each day but I am still wiggling around.  My skeleton is getting harder except for my skull.  That won’t fuse together until I am in college or so. Mommy has trouble thinking that far ahead though!  Only 7 weeks until my debut!
