23 weeks old!

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

I am a foot long and weigh a little over a pound now. My skin is red and wrinkly but I’ve still got a few months to get all chubby. I can hear loud noises now and may even be startled by sudden loud sounds. Blood vessels are forming in my lungs preparing me for breathing and those late night crying sessions. The bones in my ear are starting to harden and develop. Only 17 more weeks till my big debut.

22 week doctor’s appointment

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Today we went for a routine check-up and so far so good! Nicholas’ heartbeat was 152, which was great. I am still amazed at how the docs always know right where to put the doppler on the first try. My tummy is measuring on target and the doc was pleased with my weight, 19 lbs gained so far. Glad he was happy with it at least! Just kidding, I know its all for baby so its okay. I mean when else can I have the excuse to eat whatever I want guilt free? :)

We go back in 5 weeks. That will be a big appointment with my gestational diabetes test, a follow-up RhoGam shot and routine check up.

22 weeks old

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I look like a super-tiny newborn now, with proportioned extremities, and fully defined lips and facial features. I am about 11 inches long and weigh a pound. I am very thin but will steadily gain weight from now until my debut. My brain is rapidly developing. I have tiny teeth buds forming under my gums already. My eyes are developed but the irises lack pigment. Still leaving no answer to the question- brown or blue eyes?

Happy Birthday, Zoë!!

The countdown

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

There is enough on here about the two-legged baby, so it’s about time I add my two cents. They tell me that we’re moving… again. But they also promise that it will be well worth the stress it will cause me. I hate the cat carrier and the car. Anyway, apparently we are moving into a house very soon. A real house with lots and lots of windows with trees and birds and places for me to run and hide.

2 weeks and counting…

Aren’t I pretty? :)

Here are some progressive ultrasound pictures. From left to right- 6 weeks, 7 weeks, 10 weeks, 12 weeks and 18 weeks. We were lucky to have several at first thanks to the complications, but since they are cleared up… no more extra sneak peaks!

21 weeks old

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

I weigh just about a whole pound now. Too bad mommy has gained much more than that… sorry mom! I measure 10.5 inches long. I continue to develop my own movement patterns, but am oblivious to mom’s schedule. I tend to wake up and dance as she is getting settled into bed. My kicks and punches are getting stronger and daddy should feel them soon too. My eyelids are now fully functional and I can blink. My legs are more proportional to my body and my heart continues to develop.

We’re both growing and growing!!

20 weeks

I’m half-baked!

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I am 20 weeks old today and have made it to the half-way point of this marathon. I just went through a growth spurt and weigh about 11 ounces and measure 10 inches from head to heel. The doctors can now measure me from head to heel, rather than crown to rump since I am more stretched out now. My skin is covered in a waxy substance called vernix. I am swallowing more and more now practicing for those late night feedings. I have a sleep-wake pattern now, similar to that of a newborn. And I am very busy these days bouncing around to practice moving my limbs and muscles.

Nicholas’ first concert

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

We went to a John Mayer/Ben Folds concert on our anniversary.  We had great lawn seats and Nicholas seemed to enjoy the music because he was dancing around.  All in all, everyone had a good time! Here are some pictures from our night.
